"I have multiple skills but not one skill in which I am pro."

This is the reply I got from a reader.
It sounds like a problem - but for me, it was always a benefit.

This is what I replied (edited for clarity):

If I can be honest with you, I never considered myself a "pro" at anything. And sure as hell I was never "the best" either.

I would bet that's a curse for people like us who have multiple skills.

I am sure you've heard "Jack of all trades, master of none" - but that saying is incomplete.

The complete one reads: "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

I've always been the type of person with multiple interests, and I love learning new things.

Some to a degree that I understand them and can talk about them, some to a degree I can make money, solve problems, and even teach them.

But I was never the one to hone just one thing for years, to get to that minute details of mastery.

And, also, I don't see that as a bad thing.

Maybe you shouldn't, either.
