🚩 Bartering is a red flag for me. Learn from my mistakes and avoid those clients! It rarely ends well.

Clients who barter are typically more focused on negotiating the best price for a product or service, whereas clients who understand your value are more concerned with the overall quality of what they are receiving and are willing to pay a fair price for it.

If a client is solely focused on getting the lowest possible price, they may not fully appreciate the value that you bring to the table, and it's likely they will show other "qualities" of a bad client.

When I first started my freelancing career, I didn't have much of a choice when it came to clients. I never really enjoyed the process of bartering, as it always made me feel cheap and undervalued.

Unfortunately, when I was starting out, I (at least I thought) didn't have much choice.

But as I gained more experience and confidence in my abilities, I learned to stand up for myself and the value of my work. I began to attract clients who appreciated and were willing to pay for the quality of my services. It was a game-changer, and I never looked back.

If you're tired of dealing with clients who constantly try to barter and undervalue your work, know that there is a better way. It may take some time and effort, but by standing firm and communicating the value of what you do, you can attract clients who respect and appreciate your worth.
